Travel company best in UK:
WHEN it comes to booking the holiday of a lifetime then look no further than Coleraine travel company Civilised Exploration and Travel.
After all, if it’s good enough for the likes of Westlife duo Nicky Byrne and Shane Filan then it should be good enough for the likes of you and me.
A sister company of Insurance and Travel based at Kingsgate Street in Coleraine, Civilised Exploration and Travel took care of all the arrangements for the pair’s honeymoon plans.
The pop stars were attracted to the Coleraine firm by the strength of its nationwide reputation, a reputation enhanced by the winning of two recent awards.
First, staff travelled to Dublin to accept the ‘Top Travel Consultancy in Ireland’ award from leading tour operator Carrier, the third year in a row they have won the award.
Then there was further cause for celebration when the family-run business was named the top consultant in the UK by another prestigious travel firm. ITC Classics, the first time it had been so honoured.
Wayne Pollock, who runs the business, says it is just reward for the efforts of his staff who he believes are unrivalled in their knowledge of worldwide destinations and in the advice they can offer to customers.
"Our consultants have masses of experience of visiting the destinations, resorts and hotels which we list in our brochures," he says.
"They study, sit exams and generally learn as much as there is to know. That means that when people come to us we can offer them exactly what they want.
"We organise tailor-made holidays to the requirements of the customer. Staff sit down with them, find out what kind of holiday they want and then assist them in meeting those needs."
Just like for the Westlife lads, one of whom, Nicky Byrne, used Civilised Exploration and Travel to sort out the perfect romantic honeymoon for him and new wife Georgina, daughter of Irish Prime Minister Bertie Ahern.
And while not everyone can afford the sort of trip the happy couple enjoyed - a short stay in a hilltop hotel in the south of France followed by a week of luxury in the Seychelles – changing notions about holidays means more of us are choosing to become a little more adventurous.
"People are a bit more knowledgeable these days," adds Wayne. "We simply help them to get exactly what it is they want, whether it is a romantic getaway in the Seychelles, an African safari, visiting the Inca remains in Peru or a short break somewhere nearer home."
