Were you surprised at Kerry and Brian's split?

Nicky Byrne: Yes. We never expected it and it was a very sad day, especially because children were involved. We spoke to them both when it happened and it was obviously a tough time for them.
How do you feel about Brian now? Are you bitter about him leaving?

Mark Feehily: We've never stopped being his friends and there's no bitterness between us. We speak to him quite a lot and meet up whenever we're in th same city. Nicky: Brad Pitt - he's the best looking actor around. He's nearly as good-looking as me! I think he's really cool.
What advice would you give to a future Westlife?

Kian Egan: Forget about it! Not really. I'd tell them: be honest, be nice to people, listen to advice. Don't go into it acting like you know it all. When we started out we took every piece of advice we were given. The most important thing to remember is that it's all about the songs, not the people. The muic is what makes people buy CDs.
What's the strangest thing you've been given by a fan?

Shane: A raw turnip. It was in a really posh box with a ribbon, but it still had muck on it. We get underwear thrown on stage a lot. When we were in South Africa a girl threw a diamante G-string with her photo and phone number. We took the mickey during the show, put the camera on her and read out her her mobile number so that all the blokes could ring her.
What's the best thing about being famous?

Kian: The money side of things obviously makes life easier - it's nice to be able to take care of your family. Sometimes fame can be a hindrance, but when we're together it's easier - we get perks like getting into clubs for free and not having to queue at airports.
Do you play practical jokes on each other?

Mark: I was in the shower the other day and Nicky put honey all over the floor, trying to make me slip. It wasn't a very intelligent thing to do - I could've broken my neck. We don't normally do practical jokes, it's more that we take the piss out of each other.
Are you looking forward to taking part in the Pepsi Max Downloaded Competition?

Kian: Yes. the idea in that we do small intimate gigs in the home towns of competition winners. The audiences at the gigs will only be 200-strong and the fans will get involved and work with us for the day.Most of our gigs have been in huge arenas, so we thought this would be a great thing to do.
Mark, you never seem to have a girlfriend. Do you enjoy playing the field or are you secretly gay?

Do you watch shows like The X Factor?

Kian: I like watching the early rounds when Simon Cowell takes the mickey out of them. They're entertaining shows, but I think there are too many on TV now. We'd probably have gone on in the early days, especially as we come from West Ireland, which is quite remote. It would've been a good opportunity for us.

Nicky: I don't usually read books and certainly not chick lit, but I read them because it was her. I thought PS, I Love You was brilliant - I actually cried.
